The walking tour, starting at the corner of the Kuopio Market Square, is about 2 kilometers long and lasts an hour. An easy and self-guided route consists of culturally significant places of administration, trade, education, and culture, as well as parks.

The route starts at the famous Kuopio Market Square near the Veljmies statue. From here, the journey continues along Kauppakatu Street towards Snellmaninpuisto Park, near which you can find, among other things, Kuopio Museum and the Lutheran Cathedral. You can admire more park landscapes in Piispanpuisto and Brahenpuisto Parks, which offer beautiful views of Kallavesi and a place to play and rest for the whole family. At the end of the route, you’ll travel through unique alleyways, which buildings from the ‘’wooden-Kuopio’’ period have been preserved.

Along the route, there are blue guide signs of the national urban park and grey stop signs that guide you forward. If you want, you can stop and see more information about the destinations on the route by scanning the QR codes of the stop signs with the camera of your mobile device.
