Monitoring of bathing waters
Public bathing areas
The regular monitoring of public bathing areas is carried out following the Environmental Health Services’ supervision plan, a list of bathing areas prepared annually, and the monitoring calendar.
In questions relating to the condition and equipment of a bathing area and bathing water quality, consumers should primarily contact the party maintaining the bathing area, whose contact details must be posted in the area.
For information on the bathing areas maintained by the Service Area for Urban Environment of the City of Kuopio, their locations and bathing water quality, visit the Bathing areas of Kuopio website.
Bathing areas
In addition to public bathing areas, there is a number of smaller ones within the City of Kuopio that are not within the scope of the monitoring carried out pursuant to the Health Protection Act. Consequently, the bathing water quality of such areas with very low numbers of users is not monitored, and no regular inspections of them are conducted. Any shortcomings in the safety of the bathing area should be reported to its owner or titleholder.
Winter swimming
Water samples from the winter swimming areas in Väinölänniemi and Kankainen in Nilsiä are taken twice during the winter.
Indoor swimming pools
The supervised sites include swimming pools and spas as well as the swimming pools, therapy pools and various recreation pools of nursing homes, rehabilitation institutes and educational institutions.
Regular supervision of swimming pools and other sites with pools takes place following the Environmental Health Services’ supervision plan.
