Murtosjoki nature trail
The Murtosjoki nature trail is a nature trail established by a private landowner on a property owned by him/her. The nature trail with lean-tos is available to all nature walkers. The trail is located only about half a kilometer from the Riuttala Peasant Museum. This makes it possible to combine a nature trail tour with a visit to Riuttala. The property is also well suited as a family nature destination.
The nature trail runs part of the way through the natural spruce forest along the Murtosjoki River, where many birds live. The rocky riverbed, backwaters and flowing rapids are beautiful landscapes and provide habitats for a wide variety of invertebrates, such as the larvae of pestle wasps, daisies and water butterflies, which, once they have matured, feed on birds.
The starting point of the 700-metre-long nature trail is in the parking lot along Riuttalantie. The nature trail is marked in the terrain with paint markers and arrow signs. Along the trail there are paintings about the nature of the area. On the banks of the Murtosjoki river there is a campfire site and a lean-to. Campfires are only allowed at the campfire site. Please take your trash away with you. Accommodation in the area is forbidden.
