Haminalahti culture trail
The culture trail in Haminalahti, Kuopio, takes the hiker to the sites and sceneries that inspired the von Wright brothers. The culture trail showcases the works of art by Ferdinand, Magnus, and Wilhelm von Wright from the 19th century, the present-day sceneries of their birthplace, and other cultural history of the Haminalahti area.
The culture trail consists of a loop trail of 3.1 km and a 1.2 km offshoot trail to Mustalahti. The trail follows forest paths and village roads and is only intended for hiking when there is no ice or snow on the ground. The trail is waymarked with signposts and poles depicting a grouse. The trail is relatively easy to travel, but there are large elevation differences in certain parts of the trail. Stairs have been installed at the most challenging spots. There are busy highways near the trail, so noise from cars can be heard in the forest.
At the starting point of the trail, there is a parking area and the Haminalahti lean-to shelter with complimentary firewood. The starting point of the trail has been built accessible. The site also has an accessible toilet, an information display, and a waste disposal site.
