Boards

Kuopio has eight boards: Urban Structure Board, Board for Education and Learning, Board for the Promotion of Wellbeing, Board for Social Protection and Health (until 31 May 2023), Environmental and Building Board, and Central Municipal Election Board. Public Transport Board and Savo-Pielinen Waste Management Board are regional boards. 

The Local Democracy Section and Corporate Governance Section also operate under the City Board. The Local Authority Audit Committee operates directly under the City Council. 

Board members and their substitutes are elected by the City Council. The City Board appoints a representative for each board.
