The seventh season of Vilkku city bikes starts 28.4.2025
The season for city bikes Vilkku starts on Monday 28 April. For this season, 100 new bikes will be available, for a total of 500 bikes. Four new stations will be installed in Neulamäki (K-Market Neulamuikku), Pirtti (K-Market Pirtinportti), Rautaniemi (intersection of Rautokannantie and Kivenapajankatu) and Levänen (exact location to be announced). A total of 52 stations will be available.
There have been many requests for new stations, and the city will be looking into setting up one more station during the period.
Seasonal products on pre-sale before the start of the season
This year you can purchase a seasonal ticket before the start of the season from 18.4.2025.
Changes in prices
Prices for usage have changed. The new prices are:
- 20 cents per minute
- 6€ per day
- 12€ week
- 23€ month
- 44€ three months
- 65€ for the whole cycling season
The city wants to remind users that city bikes may not be rented for business or professional use, and bags or equipment may not be attached to the bike in such a way that they remain attached to the bike after riding.
Under the terms of the City Bicycle Terms of Service, the above mentioned violations constitute a material breach of contract and the contract entered into for the use of the bicycle may be terminated immediately, without warning or notice. In the event of a breach of contract, any money paid for the right of use will not be refunded.
Waltti mobile app also in use
For this season, the Waltti mobile app will also be available, allowing you to use Vilkku city bikes and purchase access rights. This is the same app that is used on the Vilkku buses.
Last season, just over a million kilometres were driven on Vilkku city bikes. In 2024, the usage rate was just under 5, a good, moderate figure. The most popular stations were the Market Square, Kauppakatu Street, Savilahti, Puijonlaakso, Neulamäki and the Harbour.
