Kuopio children and young people visualize the future of the city through art

What will Kuopio look, feel, taste, smell or sound like in 50 years? The only limit is the imagination of the children of Kuopio!

In honour of the 250th anniversary, City of Kuopio is organising an art competition for primary school pupils. Children and young people are the main target group of the jubilee, so we want to showcase their vision of the future Kuopio. The works of the art competition will be used to illustrate Kuopio’s new strategy.

Participation in the competition will be organised by schools. Pupils can enter the competition with an art form of their choice: a painting, a story, a poem, a drawing, a photograph or a handicraft.

The competition jury will review the works in May 2025, taking into account the age of the artists, the creativity of the work and the interpretation of the theme. Prizes will be awarded to the best works in each of the three age categories, and prizes will also be raffled among all participants. The winning works will be published on the City of Kuopio website and social media.
