Robot bus Välkky’s route changes

Pirteä, pieni robottibussi ajaa kadulla kesäisenä päivänä.

The robot bus Välkky has been operating in Savilahti since May. Välkky’s route has gone back and forth from the Sarastuskaari car park via Savo Vocational College and Novapolis to the Snellmania building of the University of Eastern Finland. From 2 September, the route has changed. From now on, Välkky will run back and forth from the Savilahti Sports and Events Centre Luola via FinVector and Savo Vocational College to Novapolis. The Snellmania stop will be closed.

Välkky robot bus will run in Savilahti on weekdays between 8-18 until the end of September. More detailed timetables and possible exceptions can be found in the Kuopio route guide: Linja 11R (digitransit.fi)

There is capacity for 11 passengers at a time. There is also a security operator on board at all times, who is able to guide the bus and provide travel advice if necessary. Travel on Välky is free of charge.

This is a robotic bus experiment that is part of the EU-funded SHOW project (SHared automation Operating models for Worldwide adoption).
