The Our Kuopio festival brings a wide range of events to the city 10.-25.8.
The Our Kuopio Festival is an annual community-based urban festival. It encourages the development of local culture, local activism and volunteering. The events are open to all and are alcohol-free.
Kuopio’s Own city festival events will be spread across the city from the suburbs to rural areas 10.- 25.8.2024. The festival program consists of events organized by Kuopio residents themselves, either as individuals or through various associations. The City of Kuopio acts as an enabler of the festival, advising and assisting the event organizers.
The majority of the events are free of charge
The festival program includes a Back To School Party for children and young people on August 16th 2024, a Live Music Day on August 17th 2024 and a Night of the Arts on August 23rd 2024. The program for rural areas includes the Nilsiä Arts Festival on August 16th 2024 and the Brynolf weekend in Juankoski on August 17th and 18th 2024.
Most of the events in the Our Kuopio Festival programme are free of charge. Detailed programme information can be found on the Kuopio Wall, where event organisers can add their events themselves.
During the last week of the festival, in cooperation with the Kudos project, short live broadcasts will be streamed to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the festival. The live broadcasts will take place from a glass booth in Kuopio’s market square. More information about the streaming and more detailed schedules will be announced during August on the festival’s social media channels.
Pop-up events also outside the festival week
This year, the festival is expanding into a year-round event with the Our Kuopio pop-up events. Operators are encouraged to organize events outside the festival week. It is also possible to apply for Kuopio’s 250th anniversary program if the event takes place on or after November 17th 2024.
“I’m already looking forward to seeing what kind of anniversary year we can create together. The anniversary, like the Our Kuopio Festival, will be a celebration of all Kuopio residents,” says Hanna Kalliokoski, Project Coordinator of the Our Kuopio Festival.
