City of Kuopio participates in the Pride event in June

North Savo Seta and its partners will organize Kuopio Pride event 5-8 June 2024. City of Kuopio will support the event and organize a varied program for the week.

Equality Plan for Kuopio’s services, approved by Kuopio City Council, is for the period 2022-2025 and sets out the aims to promote equality in the city’s services. Kuopio aims to be an active city in the development of equality and equal opportunities issues. For example, the city encourages anonymous recruitment and gender-neutral job titles.

City of Kuopio will wave the Pride flag at the City Hall and the Council House, as well as at ten different locations in the city centre during the week. The flag is a way of showing the city’s support for the event and for equality. Kuopio Pride procession will start on Saturday at 15.00 from Keilakuja Street and end in Snellmaninpuisto Park at 16.30 for the Kuopio Pride Park Festival.

Pride-themed events will take place at the Kuopio Museum, Kuopio Art Museum, City Theatre, Main Library, Navigaattori, Kino Kuvakukko and Kulttuuriarenaa 44. Youth counsellors from Kuopio Youth Services will have a stand in Snellmaninpuisto Park at the Kuopio Pride Park Festival. Kuopio City events are open to all, some events have an entrance fee. You can also get I Love Kuopio Pride badges at these events.

City of Kuopio arranges a number of programs, especially in cultural institutions. Kuopio Pride highlights the rights, inclusion and well-being of sexual and gender minorities. By participating in the events, you can also show your support for human rights and equality for minorities.
