Opening weekend of Kuopio Christmas Market starts on Friday 8.12.

Opening weekend of the most beautiful Christmas Market in Finland will be celebrated in Kuopio from Friday 8.12.2023. Kuopio Christmas Market, which has been running since 2021, will return this year in a larger and longer format than before. Christmas Market will be open 8 – 21 December, weekdays and weekends from 10 am to 6 pm.

This year’s Christmas Market will feature Australian light artist Amanda Parer’s playful light bunnies, up to seven metres tall, which will create a magical atmosphere in the market square. These light bunnies are visiting Finland for the first time. Previously, Parer’s smaller works were shown at Kuopio Christmas Market in 2021, where they attracted so much interest that it was decided to bring light bunnies to the market once again, on a larger scale.

At the Christmas Market you can buy a variety of food, designer products, Christmas gifts, jewellery and accessories. Most of the products are locally produced and made in Finland. The glass container stores are shared by several operators, so there are in total around 40 different sellers and small businesses.

Opening weekend with many interesting guests

Opening weekend of Kuopio Christmas Market will be celebrated with royalty when Queen of Frost and her court arrive at the Market. Circus performers, who will rise to a height of over 2 metres, will delight visitors with their illuminated winter costumes. Children’s favourites, Snow Queen and Ice Princess, will also arrive at the market’s illuminated stage on the opening weekend. Santa Claus and his wife can be seen at the Christmas Market every weekend from Friday to Sunday.
