Virtuoso clarinetist Kari Kriikku as soloist of the Kuopio City Orchestra 9.11.
On Thursday 9.11. at 18:00, the Kuopio City Orchestra’s seasonal concert will welcome Finland’s most internationally renowned clarinetist Kari Kriikku, who will perform Jukka Tiensuu’s work Puro. The soloist’s work will be accompanied by Ukrainian-Canadian Larysa Kuzmenko’s Fantasy on a Theme by Beethoven from 2020 and Franz Schmidt’s Symphony No. 3, which is in the style of Schubert. The orchestra will be conducted by Daniel Raiskin at the concert in the Kuopio Music Centre Concert Hall.
Long-awaited guest soloist, clarinettist and new music magician Kari Kriikku has either premiered the majority of Finnish contemporary clarinet works or had them composed for him. Jukka Tiensuu’s 1989 work Puro (also ‘pure’ in Italian) was also written for Kriikku.
On the same day, 9.11. at 12 noon, you can enjoy an open practice of Kuopio City Orchestra, where the orchestra will play a musical taster of the evening’s concert under the direction of Daniel Raiskin. Admission to the open practice is free.
Tickets for the Kriikku & Puro concert: €33 / €27, pensioners / €11, children under 16 and students / €4 day-of-concert advance ticket students and persons under the age of 20. Sale: at Kuopio Music Centre Mon-Fri 15-17 or until the beginning of the concert.
