City of Kuopio participates in ITÄ23 training – the theme is cooperation in civil protection and after a radiation accident
The Regional State Administration of Eastern Finland, Rescue College and Radiation Safety Centre jointly organise an ITÄ23 training in November 2023, in which City of Kuopio will also participate. The theme of the training is a particular cooperation in civil protection and in the following phase of a radiation accident.
The main aim of the training is to develop and coordinate preparedness plans, improve leadership, identify the responsibilities of the different participants and develop cooperation in civil protection and in the follow-up phase of a radiation accident.
It also aims to
- to practice situational awareness and its use as a basis for decision-making at local and regional level
- to clarify the post-accident response to a radiological accident
- to improve the ability to secure life-saving functions in normal and emergency situations, and
- to improve communication and communication traffic.
Regional State Administration for Eastern Finland organises preparedness exercises in its area on an annual basis.
A preliminary exercise started the training in three provinces
ITÄ23 preparedness training will involve representatives of municipalities, welfare regions and other regional authorities in the area covered by the Regional State Administration of Eastern Finland. The training will take place in the regions of South Savo, North Karelia and North Savo.
The training consists of a pre-task in September, a pre-seminar in October and organisation specific training days on 7-9 November 2023. The training will be monitored by an expert team and a feedback seminar for the participants will be held in December 2023.
The pre-seminar in October was attended by more than 300 representatives of the participating organisations. A large attendance is also expected at the training itself in November.
